Tips On Choosing Your Wedding Gown
You’re engaged! This is one of the sweetest times of your life. You have
chosen the person with whom you want to spend the rest of your days on
this earth. In a few months - or maybe several - you are going to be a
bride! There is so much to do before the wedding. But one of the things
you’re probably looking forward to the most is picking out a dress.
Perhaps one of the most exciting experiences for a bride-to-be is
choosing the article of clothing she will wear on one of the most
important days of her life - the wedding dress! You may have dreamed
about what kind of gown you will wear to your wedding for your entire
childhood. Maybe you spent countless moments imagining what it will be
like to see yourself in the fanciest, most elegant dress you will ever
own. This is the one day that you can live your dream of looking like a
princess.
Or maybe you have never given it much thought until now. But there’s a
wedding happening and you have to wear something down the aisle - or
across the sand if you‘re planning a beach wedding! As a future bride,
choosing a gown is an important part of the wedding-planning process. It
will set the tone for your entire look.
Church Wedding Gown
If you want a large church wedding consisting of touches of elegance and
quiet moments of reverence, the wedding gown you choose should reflect
that aura of formality. You will probably want a very traditional
wedding gown with a full skirt and a long train made of exquisite
fabrics like satin and lace. An empire-waist is a flattering cut for
most women and tends to have a very sophisticated look. Many gowns
designed for a more fancy wedding will have intricate details like
beading or pearl accents. The wedding gown doesn’t necessarily need to
be expensive; however, depending on what your budget will allow, you may
want to spend a bit more on a gown that will reflect the dramatic style
of the wedding you have in mind. But you can still find a gorgeous
wedding gown a bit on the fancy side for your formal church wedding on
almost any budget.
Beach Wedding Gown
Other brides choose to go with a more non-traditional wedding. You may
even want to forgo having the ceremony in a church in favor of the
scenic outdoors. Beach weddings have gained popularity in recent years
as being a great backdrop for your special day. However, you probably
wouldn’t want to wear a heavy full-length satin princess gown with a
fifteen foot train and extra long veil as you say “I do” standing in the
sand. Many brides that plan a beach wedding will wear a simple gown of
white with cleaner lines and a slimmer silhouette. Having a short train
or none at all make navigating on the beach easier during the ceremony.
You may even choose to not have a veil at all. Keep in mind that gusty
winds are often present at beach weddings and will wreak havoc with
voluminous, billowy wedding gowns and long light-weight veils. You want
to be able to look into your groom’s eyes as you say your vows, not
fooling with a veil being blown halfway off your head every few seconds.
Whichever type of wedding gown you choose, the most important thing to
keep in mind is how you feel wearing it. You have to be the one who
picks it out. Don’t let well-meaning friends, family members, or sales
people pressure you into buying a wedding gown that makes you feel like
anything less than the beautiful bride you deserve to be. This is the
one day in your life that you get to be THE bride. And you should feel
like the most gorgeous woman in the whole world on your wedding day!
